Many thanks to WAGC’s Member Deb Fisk for her dedication in planning and organizing the two spectacular garden tours of David Culp’s Brandywine Cottage and Charles Cresson’s Hedgleigh Springs for the WAGC on June 3rd. The round-trip transportation arrangements were provided by a chartered bus, and the club enjoyed ideal weather to stroll through the visually stunning landscapes. We are grateful to have had David Culp and Charles Cresson provide a firsthand account of their respective properties as they guided the garden tours themselves for our group. It was an inspirational and memorable day. THANK YOU, DEB!
David Culp’s Brandywine Cottage: A 1790’s farmhouse just outside Philadelphia
Charles Cresson’s Hedgleigh Springs: This garden was created and maintained by four generations of gardeners for the past 90 years. Charles hopes—like great music—this garden may be appreciated on many levels. “People without musical training might like a piece of music simply because it sounds good or makes them feel good,” Charles says. “But a musician will hear it with a whole different level of understanding. My hope is that this garden is worthy of being appreciated on that deeper level, by those who can.”
